You think this wasn’t part of the plan? Crash the economy, then use the bad economy as a rationale to impose deep austerity and privatization.

Plus, it’s easier to commit atrocities against your citizens when the free world can’t see. Wealthy Russians and Saudis will still visit.

Get what you deserve by treating every foreigner like a criminal, and threatening to take over every country. The USA will be 1st in the world in the race to the bottom with this policy.

Industry stakeholders urge policymakers to reconsider travel and immigration policies that may inadvertently discourage international visitors. Reestablishing a welcoming environment…

Rebuilding confidence among global travelers, promoting diverse attractions beyond traditional hubs, and enhancing the visitor experience through innovation and inclusivity are key strategies recommended by tourism economists.

I’m no tourism economist but fat chance of that happening anytime soon while the felon is President.

Last time housing prices crashed in the USA, people’s incomes crashed as well or their mortgage obtaining ability did. All it meant was that the already rich and corporations were able to buy up real estate cheap. Did not remotely help 90% of the population.

All it meant was that the already rich and corporations were able to buy up real estate cheap.

Something like half of all real estate is owned by private equity.

If you genuinely care about wealth consolidation among the ultra-rich, and you seriously want to do something about it, there’s a Little Red Book with some helpful advice.

But just propping up Boomer real estate values for another ten years isn’t an answer either. It’s a losing game to pretend you can outwit Blackrock on home ownership.

If you’re fucking leaving the country if you’re afraid to speak up and you have actually something that’s worth saying if you have some way to attempt to stop this and you do nothing out of fear you’re a fucking coward.

I’m just gonna say this we’re all going to die so quit pretending like you won’t if you have something that will help other human beings and you are too afraid to use it. Fuck you you piece of fucking shit. You cowardly piece of shit. You will deserve what you get.

Foreigners have no obligation to come to the US. Them not coming and not spending cash here is another crack in the dam that can help lead to the flood.

Organizers have no obligation to hold events with an international audience in the US. Them spending that cash in a foreign land deprives the US of revenue and likewise is another crack in the dam.

Besides, this regime in DC is actively attacking science as a whole to force their false narratives onto the public.

And don’t come back with some type of bs about how is he supposed to do that? I keep hearing from literally everybody.

Trump sues everyone in this country. You could sue anyone for anything sue them do something anything. Literally anything is better than nothing - write a fucking article! I keep hearing about everyone’s fucking friends. I don’t care about your fucking friend. Where are they? Why aren’t they fucking writing something? Why aren’t they doing altering? Literally anything with their position they have that’s much higher than the people I’m working with now who are attempting to help and they’re literally artists and people that work in grocery stores and retired folks meanwhile, scientists are getting stopped at the border and their friends are and telling us this bullshit while I don’t see any first hand accounts barely and when I do, they are just on social media!

They have power in their position where the fuck are they? Why aren’t they fucking telling everybody? Why aren’t they fucking suing them? Do something, anything, just do something!

Was actually gonna plan a visit for 2027. Obviously won’t now.

Much of this 2025 number is even people who probably bought their trip sometime last year (as I guess, on average, people plan their trips at least 6 months ahead?) I wonder what the impact will be during the end of 2025 and next year.

florida, was a favorite destination for canadian snowbirds, but the state is sinking into the ocean, plus desantis wouldnt do anything about hurricane related infastructure/insurance. and then theres the overwhelming amount of invasive species that florida has, and many people base thier “Exotic pets operation there” for a reason. if florida dint have climate that resembles central and south america subtropica/tropical climate, it will be another run of the mill texas, lousiania or alabama.

As the other commenter said, it depends on where you are. But I would say, overall yes. Nobody really wants to talk about how bad it is/shaping up to be. The people preparing for serious defensive action are all dark, and everybody else is somewhere between denial, anger, or depression.

There are a lot of spinning plates in the air, and they seem to be all falling down at around the same time. A small example of this is the 20,000 new ICE agents that the administration has order to be quickly hired. Back during the campaign, they had Trump loyalists at his sign up to “work for the Nation”. That’s almost certainly the pool that they will be hiring undertrained, and armed Trump lackeys from. That means within the next 2.5 months, Proud Boys, Boogooloo Boys, Patriot Prayer, Patriot Front, J6 insurrectionists, and many other actual Nazis will have badges, guns, and a mandate from the federal government to round up immigrants, dissenters, disabled, and anybody else they deem to be “undesirable”. And that’s just ONE of the plates spinning in the air.

Who wouldn’t want to vacation in a country where one could be snatched up, held for weeks or even months, and finally deported? If you’re very lucky, you’ll be deported to your home country.
