I like to throw out a random y’all just to throw off scrapers like this. In my mind, they’ll either think I’m in the southern US or just get confused.

It’s probably something like, he couldn’t get one or all of his kids into Harvard. Maybe he wanted to go but couldn’t get in. I’m sure if they accepted Baron, this would all disappear.
That’s the claim from like every AI company and wow do I hope that’s what happens. Maybe I’m just a Luddite with AI. I really hope I’m wrong since it’s here to stay.
Yeah that’s a big part of it…shifting off the stuff that we don’t think is important (and probably isn’t). My view is that it’s escalated to where I’m using my phone calculator for stuff I did in my head in high school (I was a cashier in HS so it was easy)…which is also not a big deal but getting a little bigger than the phone number thing. From there, what if I used it to leverage a new programming API as opposed to using the docs site. Probably not a big deal but bigger than the calculator thing to me. My point is that it’s all these little things that don’t individually matter but together add up to some big changes in the way we think. We are outsourcing our thinking which would be helpful if we used the free capacity for higher level thinking but I’m not sure if we will.
This is the next step towards Idiocracy. I use AI for things like Summarizing zoom meetings so I don’t need to take notes and I can’t imagine I’ll stop there in the future. It’s like how I forgot everyone’s telephone numbers once we got cell phones…we used to have to know numbers back then. AI is a big leap in that direction. I’m thinking the long term effects are all of us just getting dumber and shifting more and more “little unimportant “ things to AI until we end up in an Idiocracy scene. Sadly I will be there with everyone else.
You see…we cut taxes for the wealthiest Americans and then…a tariff happens…and then Mexico pays for it?
Uses to go to Mountain Jam at Hunter Mountain in NY almost every year. It’s still a smaller event than the big ones and I think it makes a huge difference. It’s amazing but I haven’t been since before the pandemic. Camping with a couple thousand of your closest friends that you’ve never met while live music plays all day and night is incredible. Just migrating between campsites and sitting down for beers with everyone while they do the same with your campsite is a lesson to humanity.
I’ve had an Apple Watch 5 since it came out and I see no reason to upgrade. The only thing I really dislike is the battery life but to fix that you’d need to get a Garmin or similar. So can’t think of a reason I would upgrade.
I wonder what happens to Google without the advertising monopoly. They kill off everything else they build so realistically they are just an ad company at this point which offers a declining search engine. While they won’t be dethroned anytime soon in search, they keep making it worse so I have to imagine it won’t be gaining users. If they did break it out, maybe that will improve search.
I’m due for a new vehicle and likely would have just got a model X if Musk wasn’t Musk. So, I’m at least one lost sale. Likely going Rivian.
Doesn’t sound like retaliation to me, it sounds like their scheduled web crawlers are finding that content they used to index is now no longer viewable and this removed from search results. Pretty standard. My guess is that there were 400 million URLs listed and as the crawler uncovers that they are no longer available, that number will keep dropping to reflect only content publicly viewable. If only 500 URLs are now publicly viewable (without logins) then that’s what they will index. Google isn’t a search engine for private companies (unless you pay for the service) they are a public search engine so they make an effort to ensure that only public information is indexed. Some folk game the system (like the old expertsexchange.com) but sooner or later google drops the hammer.
I really think this is just about him wanting to stop pissing off Tesla customers and get people to go back to buying his cars. I don’t believe at all that this break is legit.
