That is a popular narrative.
I am of the opinion that popular narratives should be viewed with suspicion.

Good answer.
The best infectious diseases have a long incubation time. So by the time symptoms show it’s already jumped to new hosts a thousand times. How might this functionality be incorporated into the basilisk?
Maybe instead of a visual kill code, audio. That could be embedded in yr voice.
Or if you want to stick with video, face? Could the basilisk be embedded in facial expressions?
Spreading the truth. (Because it’s always the truth.)
Is sugar a vaccine?
Brought a flail to school, for “punk day”. Oak, leather-wrapped handle. 3 heavy 3-foot long chains. Brass hardware. Magnificent.
Physics prof face was total anxiety.
Oh ya, he took it away for the day. I took it home no prob.
I made it. The brass part was from a lamp post. Not exactly military grade but I could fuck stuff up.
It could be inherently flawed. We look at a picture or a symbol and pretend it’s real. That’s insane. I mean, I know that’s kinda how it works, but still. Insane.
Or maybe it’s imprecise to call it a flaw. Maybe call it a trap, to be careful of. But nobody’s careful. (So that’s maybe an “out of control” situation)
(I know I’m not. I mean case in point. I’m watching this movie “don’t look up” right now and I’m getting all teary-eyed and stuff. It’s a fucking movie. An illusion of flickering images and bullshit. I know with great certainty that it’s just a fantasy but I’m still having this reaction. So that’s insane)
Is it inherently bad? Out of control? Something else?
We could order understanding by quality.
First there is perception. That’s the closest. Then there is thought about that. Then there is the secondhand form of that, gotten from a friend. Then gotten from a mere associate. Then a stranger. Thirdhand and fourthhand. And so on.
Close to far. That close kind you don’t even have to think or talk about it.
Perceptions like rightness, beauty, gut make a good guide. Art and invention are proof of that. Call it a good source of truth.
Not too good for building objective consensuses tho.
Hypothetically, one could step away from the whole internet/media/information system. Stick with firsthand experience and the testimony of trusted friends.
To what degree would that include “science”?
What would that look like. Amish?
An accusation of selfishness wrapped in a very large bun. Lol.
I know that this is of only tangential relevance to the OP but I think that it could be safely said that “transgenderism” is boring and irrelevant to everybody except for a tiny sliver of the population : Those who love it and those who hate it. And these people seem to talk a lot.
Good one. It’s a disease amplifier.
You wouldn’t even have to infect anybody. Just exploit people who are already infected with whatever. Or have a high probability of being infected with whatever. I mean we’re talking about a population of millions so you could just play the probabilities.
You could go from zero to epidemic with even rare weird diseases.
You could run multiple diseases simultaneously.
