Nice idea - I remember on reddit some subs had a rule that required exact source headlines only, no user-written version. Lemmy doesn’t seem to have that restriction.

If you had been an adult during a decade or two before the Internet you would know that a headline used to sum up the basics of a story. For example, picking a random 1980s headline: “Six US embassy aides escape from Iran”. Nowadays that would be more like, “US admits Iran plot.”

Looks the same to me on a PC. Up/down arrows still adjust the volume. Scroll wheel on my mouse scrolls the entire screen as always. Do the changes only affect touchscreen devices?

Quite a few famous songs people think are the originals were actually covers of songs by musicians who never got famous. Some of Elvis Presley’s hits were older blues songs. “I Love Rock & Roll” by Joan Jett was originally done by a group called The Arrows. “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” was originally recorded by a guy named Robert Hazard. Who?? Yeah, exactly lol.
If society collapses, the time until people forget enough to make whatever’s on the hard drive a rare information repository worth its weight in gold will be a lot longer than the working lifespan of a typical hard drive.
