A new poll shows that about 4 in 10 Americans say Trump has been a “terrible” leader in his second term.
The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research also found that about 2 in 10 think he has done an average job in his presidency and 3 in 10 says he’s been a great or good president.
44% say Trump’s focused on the wrong priorities in the AP-NORC poll, 21% said an even mix and 10% don’t know
4 in 10 Americans have an IQ above 12.
How is it only 4 in 10?
Oh wait, maybe the other options were Horrible and stinking, which both received 3 votes.Sooo… Wait…
“4 in 10 Americans say Trump has been a ‘terrible’ leader in his second term.
2 in 10 think he has done an average job
3 in 10 says he’s been a great or good president.”4+2+3 = 9…
1 in 10: Not sure
It was 1 in 100 skipped. 1 in 10 was poor. Poor / Terrible is 52%
who is the president again?
Rounding.
They left out 1 in 10 for “Poor.” I also didn’t find a link to the poll in the article. Here’s the poll:
Great/Good NET 31
- Great 18
- Good 13
Average 16
Poor/Terrible NET 52
- Poor 13
- Terrible 39
DON’T KNOW -
SKIPPED/REFUSED 1
N= 1,260
Not the biggest sample size.
Nothing wrong with that sample size, it’s plenty.
Presumably rounding, or 1 in 10 thinks he’s just done a bad job.
“There are 3 types of people: those who can count, and those who cannot”.
He’s getting a masterclass in negotiation from Xi and I’m here for it.
And the other six? racist illiterate scumbags.
Could be a sampling bias. If you take 100 people at random from each state, the results would favor Trump. But 100 people is a larger percentage of red states than it is of blue states.
If you reword it as “4 out of 10 square miles think Trump is a bad president”, it makes more sense, if you compare it to a political alignment map.
No polling institute would make such stupid mistakes
No, but many do so on purpose.
And what do you base your assumption on that the AP does that?
6 in ten Americans are complete imbeciles I guess
30% of the population thinks tanking the economy, shredding the constitution, and deporting people to what is essentially a death camp without due process, all totally legal and very cool.
Reminds me of this book about interviews with “ordinary” non-political, non-military Nazi party members in Germany. Just regular citizens with jobs and families. “They Thought They Were Free: The Germans 1933-45” (1955).
“The author determined that his interviewees had fond memories of the Nazi period and did not see Adolf Hitler as evil, and they perceived themselves as having a high degree of personal freedom during Nazi rule, with the exception of the teacher. Additionally, barring said teacher, the subjects still disliked Jewish people… At the time of the interviews the interviewees were still not in favor of the democratic Bonn government.”

Sample size was 10 men… The author didnt even speak german
It’s not a poll. It’s a book.
Doesnt matter if you’re writing a book or a poll…It’s a very flawed methodolgy
Deporting.Disappearing.I got downvoted on another post for stating that disappearing is a term used for events when what happened to the victims isn’t public knowledge. We know who was deported illegally (without due process) to El Salvador.
Disappearing is when a person suddenly vanishes and it sometimes takes a Truth and Reconciliation effort a decade later to figure out where they were buried.
Just because they’re doing it sloppily doesn’t mean it’s not disappearing.
Or maybe we should wait a decade before we refer to it as what it is.
Sure, sure. It’s not disappearing someone if they eventually list their names or let them make phone calls, days, weeks, or months later, it’s just sparkling secret deportations.
Amazing that so many don’t think that. The media must be working overtime to hide such a mess from so many.
Not really. This work has been done over decades. Most Americans get their news from Fox or Facebook, both of which are intentionally misinforming people on a daily basis.
6 out of ten said what? This is fine…?
2 in 10: Average 3 in 10: Great
If you all could just try to not take the rest of the planet with you, that’ll be great.
You really got to wonder what that 2 in 10 thinks about the history of presidents of this country. I mean there’s been some stinkers but Jesus.
You really got to wonder what that 2 in 10 thinks about the history of presidents of this country.
It’s honestly weird to see people hyperventilating over Trump when I’ve lived through the Bush post-9/11 War on Terror and the Reagan Era War on Crime.
Both had wildly unconstitutional surveillance and arrests, extra-judicial black sites and torture prisons, partisan purges of agencies, corporate multinationals capturing government agencies, and all sorts of naked corruption.
Trumpism isn’t new, it’s just poorly marketed. The biggest difference between Trump and his predecessors is that the media clapped like seals when prior admins were committing these atrocities.
Did they have their own gestapo invading government agencies?
Bush had Liberty University graduates flushing out the Clintonites from the FBI to the SEC to the EPA. He very famously purged the DOJ in order to influence prosecutions, then groomed a new generation of governors and house reps with the replacements. Bush also oversaw the DHS and the militarization of immigration through ICE.
Reagan had the Heritage Foundation hires who oversaw dismantling public sector unions (the FAA most famously). He tried (and ultimately failed) to eliminate the Dep of Energy. His administration also heavily privatized the US military, which cleared the way for companies like Raytheon and Halliburton to assume critical roles in manufacturing and logistics - a role Elon’s Starlink is currently usurping.
True but, to me they merely laid the foundation for the third reich. The current administration is hitler shit in practice.
Then: Remember the outrage and confusion when podunk sherrifs departments in Armpit, Anywhere were getting MRAPs.
Why would the police need war vehicles to police their own people?!?!?
Now: Ahh! Now I get it.
Gtfoh I remember all that shit too. You can’t possibly equate the Reagan era with this. They emphasized the neighborhood watch. That’s a big fucking difference between a neighborhood watch and (God damnit, this is gonna be a long list) checks notes deep breath; official memos to report anti-christian “bias”, ignoring court orders, abducting people to foreign prison camps, ignoring the 1st amendment, gangs of masked men flying swastikas and disrupting lives in public, pardons for violent criminals and major fraud crimes, election tampering, political vendettas, money laundering (meme coins and truth social), human rights violations, throwing away global stability for profit, pulling aid from allies, mocking and taunting allies, promoting random nobodies to prominent government positions, a literal felon president, arresting US citizens at the border, promoting RUSSIA, and I know I’m missing like, several dozen other horrendous things that makes Reagan’s presidency comparatively cute.
And that doesn’t even mention paying off a pornstar for silence about leveraging his power to influence her career, also known as rape. Or the other rape and defamation cases, or all of the hardworking Americans who built businesses that were ruined by trump not paying his debts, and drawing out the courts? How many people became homeless or committed suicide as a direct result of trump not paying his debts? Now millions of people are going to die globally because trump is pulling the same shit on a global scale.
America has a debt, and it’s not just the national debt. We have a debt to the world for making it suck so much worse. The globalization of our economy sucked everyone into our vortex of destruction. There isn’t plastic in Tibets glacial melt because of their actions. We owe the world because the reason this is the wealthiest country (for now) is because we shit on the rest of the world to do it. Even the excessive debt and selling of our debt, it’s all just this extravagent hubris… It’s gross. It’s like “yes! Bask in the exuberance! Buy my money so I can have more money!” And now consumers and countries alike are like… Uhhh wtf? No.
This is our downfall. Not just the fascism that’s growing, but that this bullshit is making other countries realize that they don’t need us at all. Not our money, not our defense, not our tech, not even our food! The world doesn’t need us one bit, and a lot of people on every side are just now figuring this out. Unironically, this will actually probably lead to a rise in health and living standards around the world. Except for America, that is.
I could see Trump being average among the atrocities of prior presidents. I see absolutely nothing wrong with hyperventilating at each and every one of them, though. Average doesn’t mean acceptable.
I see absolutely nothing wrong with hyperventilating at each and every one of them, though.
Treating each President as uniquely bad leads to people losing sight of the structural problems with the state because of their fixation on the ideosynchrosis of individual office holders.
Trump isn’t merely using the presidency incorrectly. The presidency is designed as a vehicle for inflicting brutality and he’s just aiming it at people we sympathize with.
Fucking politicians. All the same ain’t they.
Corruption and greed is a basic human instinct.
As of 2022 only 38% of the population keep up with current events
Hoe can they? There is little news left. Just propaganda.
There’s a shitload of media coverage on all the shit Trump is doing, what are you talking about.
By definition all news is propaganda
2/10 Say he’s average. 3/10 think he’s great!
1/10?
Probably something like:
4.3 terrible
2.4 average
3.3 great
“don’t know” it’s right there in the article
They were probably afraid to speak for fear or being deported
It’s a bullshit poll.
The AP-NORC poll surveyed 1,260 adults from April 17- April 21, using a probability-based method from AmeriSpeak. The margin of sampling error for the poll is plus or minus 3.9 percentage points.
He’s underwater at 54.6% unfavorable on YouGov as of five days ago.
https://today.yougov.com/topics/politics/trackers/donald-trump-favorability
He’s 59% unfavorable on Pew Research Center as of three days ago.
I mean, these numbers are still crazy low relatively speaking.
They’re the lowest in presidential history. Don’t forget, they’re not exclusively asking informed people.
No they’re not lol. The lowest in the first 100 days maybe. Don’t just believe headlines.
Have a look at Truman’s approval numbers towards the end of his term.
George W. Bush had the highest disapproval with 71% on 10/10/2028.
Harry Truman had the lowest approval, hitting 22% in 1951 and again in 1952. From secondary source Wikipedia (it’s the internet; how hard do you want me to work?).
George W. Bush had the highest disapproval with 71% on 10/10/2008.*
FTFY
Thank you! I was so confused initially by these time traveling pollsters.
The 52% AP-NORC result has a margin of error of 3.9%. That puts the 54.6% YouGov poll squarely within it. Pew Research was April 7-14 and doesn’t have a margin on its first page, so I didn’t look further.
Not sure why you don’t think the YouGov poll is also bullshit since it is lower than Pew.
Yougov is a private company based out of England and founded by rich right wingers. They exist to profit from and meddle in American politics.
Could be 6 out of 10 said he should be put into the ground, it could also be 6 or if 10 said he should be the next pope.
I misread it as 4/10 say he’s good, and still thought WTF?!
It’s because we’re literally surrounded by nazis
Terrrrrrrible
Was this written by AI?
Forty-two percent of Independents say Trump has the wrong priorities, 30 percent say an even mix, 9 percent believe he has the wrong priorities and 19 percent don’t know.
Because of math?
Read only what’s in bold for a fun surprise.
What the fuck is wrong with the other six?
Lots of things!
Only 4-in-10? That’s disappointing
It’s more than the people who voted for him…
If you force no to low info non-voters to vote it doesn’t fix their ignorance. You just get Australian elections.
It’s why the US will fail, quickly.
The other 6 are in comas.
At least 4 are nazis
Shows that Trump is not the problem. He is the symptom.
