I’m sorry, but it’s unfortunately not just some primitive racism, their culture and modern way of life is not very compatible with the rest of the modern society

I don’t want to spread harmful stereotypes, but the most dangerous neighborhoods in Romania and Slovakia are the Roma enclaves. Also you can see them everywhere in European city squares using children to scam people. The infamous “Free” Rose Scam.

      Who upvoted this shit?

I’m sorry, but unfortunately the oppression of Roma minorities is systematic, and actually starts with the preconception that you spew.

I think saying “their culture” is way too generalizing. The problem is that they had their traditional way of living, and ever since the 1700s the governments all over central Europe have gone out of their way to destroy that. Treating Romani, Sinti and other “traveler” groups very much like how natives were treated in the Americas - their children taken away, families broken apart, languages forbidden etc. That has created a broken community/society. What laypeople might consider “their culture” is not their traditional culture at all, it is a result of their original culture having been destroyed by modern societies.

Obviously the status quo is a huge problem and the main factor in that are Romani people themselves. But I’d argue that it is really hard as a kid growing up to figure out a way that works in between problematic adults in your community, actual racism, reaching a good point in the main society and still not losing your roots.

Maybe all that has something to do with the fact that they were literally chattel slaves until the 1850s, that they were genocide by the Nazis in the Porajmos and targetted for Canada style ethnic cleansing since then, while no reparations or serious affirmative action ever took place.

Replace “Roma” with “black” and “Romania and Slovakia” with “America” and see how that works out. The current state of Roma people is the collective responsibility of European societies. I mean you said “enclave” but let’s call a spade a spade, those are ghettoes. You’re putting these people in ghettoes and complaining that their ghettoes are dangerous. The point being: White Europe broke Roma society, now fix it.
